These Beauty and the Beast inspired furniture articles are the brainchild of the late Canadian designer Judson Beaumont. He started out in the industry with straight, geometric designs, but a few years later, conventional designing became too boring. The artist pictured furnishings as having human characteristics for a change and has successfully translated the idea into reality in the form of furniture in quirky themes and shapes.
In the story, the Prince was transformed into a Beast and his servants into literally moving and talking movables. Cogsworth, the mantel clock, finds a real-life counterpart in Sullivan, the grandfather clock. Anne Armoire is reminiscent of the Wardrobe. While there are no living tables in the Disney movie, the ones by Straight Line Designs do belong with the cast with their human-like antics!
This playful set is the perfect way to greet visitors, “Be our guest!”
