Clive Roddy Miniature Hyperion Tree

It's the world’s smallest, world's biggest tree!

Somewhere in California’s Redwood National Park stands Hyperion, the tallest tree alive on Earth. While the towering coast redwood’s exact location is undisclosed, one can still get a glimpse of it in its entirety. The miniature Hyperion tree is a replica of the record-breaking tree that you can hold in your hand. Encased in glass and standing on a wooden pedestal, it comes with a tiny human silhouette figure so you have an idea how high the real thing can be! Keep it as a souvenir, a conversation piece, or a pet plant. Either way, it’s as amazing to behold as the real-life tree that inspired it!

It’s a handmade miniature redwood tree model

In 2006, tree hunters and hikers Michael Taylor and Chris Atkins discovered what would be the tallest tree in the world—a 379-foot-tall, 600-year-old coast redwood—among a bunch of alike trees in California’s Redwood National Park. Humboldt State University ecologist Stephen Sillett climbed the tree and confirmed its height. It was called Hyperion, after the Titan of the same name in Greek mythology.

Apart from these three people and the park personnel, no one has ever been able to determine or visit Hyperion’s exact whereabouts. It’s kept secret to protect Hyperion from being carved on by visitors.

This giant inspired UK-based artist Clive Roddy to create the Miniature Hyperion Tree.

Awesome product features

  • A pet plant to love and cherish: Do you want a houseplant but you’re too busy to take care of one? Take the Miniature Hyperion Tree on as a pet. Though it isn’t a real plant, it can still bring you the joy of having one! If your place doesn’t have much space for greens, the Hyperion replica will easily fit on your worktable.

  • A souvenir for keeps: One can only dream of getting an actual piece from Hyperion since its kind has been classified as endangered and thus heavily protected. But you can still snag a remembrance of it though, in the form of its miniature. See its entire form even if you’ve never been to Redwood National Park yet!

  • Weather- and wither-proof: Seeing wilted plants or felled trees is heartbreaking, especially for nature lovers. Mini Hyperion is safe and sound in its glass casing. All it needs is regular dusting to stay as good as new. With proper care, it’ll bring beauty and happiness to your home for years!

Who will appreciate this as a gift

Though artificial, the Miniature Hyperion Tree is a refreshing addition to interiors devoid of greens. Let a loved one experience its benefits!

Nature-loving family and friends will be thrilled to have it at home. It’ll get your guests talking about it, and they’ll be astounded when they hear about how lofty Hyperion really is! It’s also a valuable find for botanists and plant collectors. Apart from having a better idea of the tree’s height, they can take a break and just gaze at this interesting, fun-size sculpture.

What’s the item made of?

Clive Roddy’s Miniature Hyperion Tree is delicately handcrafted and made of balsa wood, birch plywood, card, foam, and steel. The tree replica, along with a teeny human figurine are both securely attached to the weighted platform before they’re enclosed in a glass case.

How small is it?

This is a 1:826 scale model of Hyperion. Overall, the whole piece is 16 cm high, 4.5 cm wide, and 4.5 cm deep. Its size makes it ideal for display on workspaces, night tables, or shelves!
